Terms of Service
Who We Are
Qtaum is operated by its developer. For questions or requests, contact us at [email protected].
Welcome to Qtaum
Qtaum is a web application that helps instructors collect student work, review submissions, and publish structured feedback. These Terms of Service govern your use of Qtaum during early access.
By creating an account or using Qtaum, you agree to these terms.
Early Access Status
Qtaum is currently in early access. This means:
- The service is provided as-is while we learn from real instructors.
- Features may change, be added, or removed based on feedback.
- There may be bugs, downtime, or service interruptions.
- We may adjust these terms as we refine the product.
We're committed to transparency. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email.
Current Pricing: Free
Qtaum is free during early access. We do not currently charge for the service.
In the future, we may introduce paid plans. If we do:
- We will provide advance notice (at least 30 days).
- Early access users may receive specific options when paid plans are introduced.
- We may offer a free tier alongside paid plans.
- You may export your data or close your account at any time.
Your Content and Data
You own your content. This includes:
- Assignment descriptions, instructions, and rubrics you create.
- Feedback you write and publish to students.
- Any materials you upload or create within Qtaum.
Students retain ownership of their submitted work. By using Qtaum, students grant you (the instructor) permission to review and provide feedback on their work.
License to operate the service: By using Qtaum, you grant us a limited license to host, store, process, and display your content solely to operate the service and provide it to you and your students. We do not sell, share, or use your content for purposes outside of operating Qtaum.
See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your data.
AI Assistance
Qtaum uses AI to suggest feedback items based on student submissions. Important clarifications:
- AI does not grade automatically. All feedback must be reviewed and published by you.
- AI suggestions are drafts. You can edit, delete, or ignore any suggestion.
- You are responsible for published feedback. Qtaum assists; you decide what students see.
We use third-party AI services to generate suggestions. Student submissions may be processed by these services. We do not train public AI models on your data.
Acceptable Use
You agree to use Qtaum for legitimate educational or mentoring purposes. You may not:
- Use Qtaum to harass, abuse, or harm others.
- Upload illegal, offensive, or malicious content.
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data.
- Misuse access links or attempt to access submissions not intended for you.
- Bypass access restrictions or security measures.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the service.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Service Availability
We strive to keep Qtaum available and reliable. However, as an early-access product:
- We do not guarantee 100% uptime.
- We may perform maintenance with or without notice.
- Data backups are automated, but you should keep local copies of important materials.
Qtaum is provided "as-is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
Account Closure and Data Export
You may close your account at any time by contacting [email protected] or via the Product Feedback form inside the application.
Upon account closure:
- Your instructor account will be deactivated.
- Students will no longer be able to access assignments you created.
- We will retain data for a reasonable period to comply with legal obligations, then delete it.
- Deleted data may remain in secure backups for a limited period. Backups are rotated and eventually removed.
Before closing your account, you can export your data manually (copy assignments, feedback, etc.). Automated export tools may be added in the future.
Limitation of Liability
Qtaum is an early-access tool. To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for data loss, service interruptions, or errors in AI-generated suggestions.
- You use Qtaum at your own risk.
- We are not responsible for disputes between instructors and students arising from feedback or grading decisions.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service as Qtaum evolves. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email and update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.
Continued use of Qtaum after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
